Embark on a whimsical journey through Golden Gate Park, where science and imagination blend. We’ll begin with a peaceful walking meditation in the serene Japanese Garden, setting a mindful tone for the day. From there, we’ll wander into the lush world of the Conservatory of Flowers, uncovering the enchanting ways plants survive and thrive by adapting to their environments and communicating with the creatures around them.
Our next stop is the Shakespeare Garden, where we’ll reflect on the powers science gives humans. Each camper will write a message of wonder on a tiny scroll, slip it into a glass tube, and gently tuck it into the beloved fairy houses at the Music Concourse. Hopefully, these notes will help our fairy friends discover new tricks through the magic of nature and science!
We’ll end the day inside the Rainforest Dome at the California Academy of Sciences, exploring vibrant ecosystems with fresh eyes and a playful scientific perspective. It’s a full day of wonder, discovery, and adventure—where nature reveals its secrets and imagination guides us.
The next day, we’ll return to the park to visit the De Young Art Museum to explore the Art of Indigenous America. We’ll discover how Native artists used natural materials to create striking geometric designs. After lunch, campers will hand-sew a traditional-style pouch using plant-based thread, then personalize it with beads and feathers.
