Financial Literacy
Life is full of choices, many of which involve money. If you understand how to make wise financial decisions, you enjoy the freedom that money can bring. At our engaging personal finance camp, you’ll learn to think critically about earning, spending, saving, and sharing money.
Through fun activities and inspiring games, you’ll develop a relationship with money that aligns with your values and goals. You’ll explore financial literacy concepts such as distinguishing between needs and wants, making informed purchasing decisions, understanding financial trade-offs, recognizing the importance of saving, learning the role of banks, building and maintaining a strong credit score, and understanding how advertising and social media influence your spending habits.
The excitement continues with a real-world challenge: running your own bakery! You’ll learn about profits, losses, and the cost of goods while also understanding how stocks are created—all while sourcing ingredients and making your products. We’ll create a Shark Tank-style pitch to practice public speaking and entrepreneurial skills. To top it off, you’ll learn marketing by creating a website and selling to real customers.
By the end of the week, you’ll be in control of your money, not the other way around!
Campers will use MUNI to visit the Wells Fargo Museum in downtown San Francisco.
