Frequently Asked Questions
What grades and ages do you serve?
Our camps are designed for students entering grades 1 through 9. Activities and projects are adapted to be age-appropriate and challenging for each grade level.
How big are the groups?
We keep groups small — a maximum of 12–16 campers with a 7:1 camper-to-staff ratio. Every group has a lead instructor plus an assistant, so every child gets personal attention, hands-on time with materials, and direct interaction with staff.
What are the camp hours?
Camp runs 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Extended care is available before and after camp:
• Morning care (8:00–9:00 AM): $95/week
• Afternoon care (4:00–5:30 PM): $150/week
• Ad hoc extended care: $25/hour
What should my child bring for lunch?
Campers bring their own lunch and a water bottle each day. We provide a morning snack. Please note: our camps are nut-free environments.
How does drop-off and pickup work?
Drop-off is between 8:00 and 9:00 AM. Pickup is at 4:00 PM (or 5:30 PM if using aftercare). We use a structured check-in and check-out process so your child is always accounted for.
How much does camp cost?
Tuition is $735 per week. Extended care is available at an additional cost:
• Morning care (8:00–9:00 AM): $95/week
• Afternoon care (4:00–5:30 PM): $150/week
• Ad hoc extended care: $25/hour
What is your refund policy?
Full refunds are available if you cancel more than 30 days before camp starts. Between 14 and 30 days, we offer a 50% refund or full credit toward a future session. Cancellations within 14 days are non-refundable, but we can transfer your spot to a different week if space is available.
Where are the San Francisco camp locations?
We run camps at multiple SF locations including sites in the Sunset District and Balboa area. Exact addresses are provided upon registration.
Is the program tax-deductible?
Celsius and Beyond is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Camp tuition may be tax-deductible. Our Tax ID is available upon request.
Are your camps inclusive of children with different needs?
Yes. We welcome all children and work to make our camps accessible. If your child has specific needs, please contact us before registration so we can plan accordingly and ensure a great experience.
Safety and Supervision
Your child’s safety is our highest priority. Here is what we do every day:
Small groups, consistent supervision – Maximum 12–16 campers per group with a 7:1 camper-to-staff ratio. A lead instructor and assistant are present at all times during activities.
Structured check-in and check-out – Clear daily arrival and dismissal procedures so you always know your child is accounted for.
Age-appropriate tools and materials – Every hands-on activity uses tools and supplies matched to the grade level, with direct instructor guidance.
Clear routines – Kids know what to expect: consistent daily schedules, transition procedures, and behavior expectations from day one.
Trained instructors – All lead instructors hold advanced degrees (Ph.D., M.S., M.A., MFA) from institutions like UCSF, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and Cal Poly.
More Than a Summer Camp
Celsius and Beyond is not daycare with a science theme. It is a real science education program built by scientists, for curious kids.
Taught by real scientists – Every lead instructor holds an advanced degree (Ph.D., M.S., M.A., or MFA) and brings professional expertise into the classroom. Your child learns from people who actually do the work.
Real tools, real techniques – Campers use centrifuges, PCR machines, sewing machines, soldering irons, and professional cooking equipment. Projects are designed to teach actual methods, not simplified versions.
Kids build, test, and take home what they make – Every day ends with something tangible: a working circuit, a sewn project, a cooked dish, a dissection, a coded program. This is hands-on learning with real outcomes.
Structured like a learning program – Full daily schedules with dedicated project blocks, movement breaks, and a showcase. Kids know what to expect and stay engaged all day.
Inclusive by design – We welcome all children and work to make every camp accessible. If your child has specific learning needs or differences, contact us before registration so we can plan accordingly. Celsius and Beyond is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — our mission is making real science available to every kid.
