Architecture - The Bauhaus
Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus movement, arguably the single most influential modernist art and design movement in the 20th century! Its approach to architecture, and to the relationship between art, society, and technology, had a major impact both in Europe and around the world long after its closure under Nazi pressure in 1933. After learning about how the movement viewed esthetics and functionality, we will take a virtual tour. From Israel to Australia, via Iraq and the U.S., we will marvel at how unpretentious design and clear lines can be decidedly distinct from their surroundings. Inspired, we will build models of Bauhaus classics and create our own originals by creating hard-lined scale plans, elevation drawings, and architectural scale models.
