Car Engine Winter Camp
You can stare under the hood of a car until you’re blue in the face and it’s still not going to be clear how the engine can propel the car to fly down the highway. The piston is the “heart” of the engine and the part that transfers energy to movement. It is the birthchild of numerous inventors who wanted to change how the world moves. We will build a working model of a V8 engine from wood, metal, and plastic. We will learn about compression, spark, fuel, and why each matter. At the end of the week, you will get to take your model home as a reminder of the moment when car engines were no longer a mystery to you!
