The Science of Psychology
With about 100 billion neurons, it’s no wonder that the human brain is the most complex machine on the planet, constantly adapting to our complex environment. In this session we will attempt to understand the elements that determine how we think and behave. We will start by enacting some of the classical experiments that laid the foundation for the field of psychology. We will also learn by practicing techniques that psychologists use to help us deal with things that upset us, such as psychodrama, art therapy, mindset, and mindfulness. We will gain a better understanding of our personalities by taking tests that measure our noncognitive traits and learn from them.
You may conclude at the end of the week that the brain is indeed complex, but at least you will get to better understand your own a little better.
Campers will be directed not to share family information.
