woodworking - Redwood chair

Discover the full power of your hands by building a redwood lounge chair and a matching stool. This hands-on, project-oriented camp includes the full range of furniture making skills. You will hammer, saw, screw, sand, and drill to your heart’s content as you turn a pile of wood into a work of function and beauty. You will understand how perfection is achieved by working through problems with your hands. You will literally leave your mark on the chair by using etching, stamping, and staining. At the end of the week, you will take your chair home and obtain new abilities to handle tools with the same expertise you handle your cell phone!
Kids will use handsaws, hammers, drills, screwdrivers, files, and other tools. Electric saws are excluded.

Michael Patterson

Led byMichael Patterson

With the help of his father and brother, Michael built his first tree house at the age of 6.  Mounted 7 feet off the ground, the tree house was complete with real roof, a couch, a TV and is still standing tall to this day.  Since then he has been helping his dad in his woodshop building cabinets and other fun projects.

Michael previously co-taught at Celsius in the Architecture camp.

Michael was the captain of the basketball and track teams in High School.  He is currently an economics major at San Francisco State University. He is planning on becoming a firefighter so that he can save houses and treehouses from fire.
